Clark Band students are encouraged to have fun during marching season, but they are also expected to display professionalism and respectfulness while representing their school at band events. A supportive attitude and cooperation from each individual regarding the following policies will ensure an enjoyable and successful season for all:
- No jewelry may be worn on the buses, in the stands, or at any time during football games or other marching events. The only exception is Clark senior rings and religious necklaces. Students are advised to leave their jewelry and all valuables at home to prevent loss or theft.
- No nail polish may be worn on the buses or at any time during marching events. Students wearing nail polish will be required to remove it before boarding buses.
- No cell phones, CD players, video games, or other personal electronic devices are permitted in the stands, and are discouraged on the buses due to the potential for loss or theft. In the case of an emergency that requires a phone call, students should notify a chaperone.

Marching Band Rehearsal Attendance Policy
In order to maintain a high-quality marching band, attendance from all members is essential. Unlike other classes where a student's success is based upon individual accomplishment, the band's success depends upon complete member participation. Please review the following attendance policy for the school year:
Absences from rehearsals
Excused Absences
Unexcused Absences
A student with one unexcused absence from any rehearsal in a given week will not march at the next football game or contest, or perform at the next concert.
Tardies
In order to maintain a high-quality marching band, attendance from all members is essential. Unlike other classes where a student's success is based upon individual accomplishment, the band's success depends upon complete member participation. Please review the following attendance policy for the school year:
Absences from rehearsals
- You are considered absent if you arrive more than 20 minutes late or miss an entire rehearsal.
- If you know that you will be absent on a certain date, you must hand a note from your parent directly to one of the directors as soon as you know you will be absent. Your note must be given directly to a director - not to a drill instructor, guard captain, drum major or other adult staff.
Excused Absences
- A student with two excused absences from any rehearsal n one week will not march at the next football game or contest, or perform at the next concert.
- The directors will decide what is excused and what is not.
- For an absence to be excused, the student must provide an acceptable note.
Unexcused Absences
A student with one unexcused absence from any rehearsal in a given week will not march at the next football game or contest, or perform at the next concert.
Tardies
- If you are not in your warm-up position or assigned position by the time attendance is taken, you are considered tardy.
- Two tardies equal one absence.
- Parent/teacher notes for tardies follow the same rules for absences.
Nine Weeks Eligibility Dates
Northside ISD students who are not passing all classes on the date of an eligibility check are considered "ineligible." Any band or guard student who is ineligible cannot attend or participate in any extracurricular events including football games, region band contests, UIL events, solo & ensemble contests, Fiesta events, etc. Ineligible students may, however, participate in rehearsals.
Eligibility Check - End of day on the day report cards are distributed.
*Time of school day ending may vary. Remember, the time a student gains or loses eligibility is always the time school normally ends for that student’s respective school. Remember, students who have lost eligibility will begin reestablishing eligibility the first academic day following the last grade check.
